New 2010 Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight Released
Written by admin on January 23, 2010 – 12:17 am -Harley's late-release Dark Custom joins the Sportster family By Andrew Cherney Just when you thought all the new metal was out of the box, comes this surprising bit of news from Harley Davidson. The Motor Company has announced a new 2010 Sportster model called the Forty-Eight, a shadow-splashed factory custom powered by a fuel-injected, rubber-mounted 1200cc Evolution V-twin. With its blacked-out controls, fat wheels, engine cases and air cleaner cover (along with other components), the Forty-Eight makes no bones about its membership in Harley's Dark Custom club, a lineup that includes other Sportster-based bikes like the Nightster and the Iron 883, along with the Street Bob Night Bob and Cross Bones. Featuring a slammed suspension and the... more

Harley-Davidson Museum is hog heaven
Written by admin on January 18, 2010 – 2:18 am -By DIANA LAMBDIN MEYER / Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News MILWAUKEE – Unofficially, the dress code at the Harley-Davidson Museum calls for black and orange. When my friends met me in our hotel's lobby, they were appalled. My stylish slacks and cotton blouse would never do. They handed me a black Harley T-shirt and sent me back to my room to change. Much better. I now came closer to fitting in at Milwaukee's shrine to hogs where people who take their motorcycles seriously come clad in leather, jeans, do-rags and orange and black T-shirts. This city is many things: the brewing capital of America; the home of Arthur Fonzarelli and the Happy Days gang; and location of a Santiago Calatrava-designed art museum that graces the shore... more

Harley-Davidson Unveils New Part Number System
Written by admin on December 22, 2009 – 4:53 am -On Dec. 15, 2009, Harley-Davidson launched a new part number format that will be used for all newly created Original Equipment and Genuine Parts & Accessory part numbers, replacing the current part numbering system that dates back to the early 1960s. The new part number format change was driven by several factors, with a primary reason being that after decades of new part introductions, unused base part numbers were running out. The new part number system replaces the legacy format of a five-digit base part number and a two-digit model year code (e.g., 12345-09) with a three-digit part type and a five-digit index number (e.g., 34500008). The model year of introduction will no longer be embedded in the part number but it will be readily... more

Harley-Davidson recalls Touring models
Written by admin on December 10, 2009 – 12:32 am -A recall has been ordered of certain 2009 and 2010 model years of some Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycles that could affect more than 111,000 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Touring motorcycles are manufactured in York County. The administration lists that Harley is recalling the motorcycles because frontal fuel tank mounts might distort during a frontal crash, which could cause a fuel leak. If ignited, the leak could cause injury or death, according to the recall statement. Recall-related repairs to install braces to reduce the distortion are scheduled to be available at dealerships free of charge beginning on or about Monday. AFFECTED MODELS 2009 and 2010 FLHP FLHPE FLHR FLHR SHRINE FLHRC FLHT... more
